Hartford Mayor Luke Bronin, who recently decided not to seek reelection, is reiterating his support for Democratic Gov. Ned Lamont while saying he鈥檚 still open to considering a run for the state鈥檚 highest office.
鈥淚 think our governor is doing a great job. He鈥檚 one of the most popular governors in the country. He deserves as much time as he needs to figure out whether he wants to run again,鈥� Bronin said. 鈥淏ut if he doesn鈥檛 run again, then that鈥檚 obviously something I would strongly consider.鈥�
Bronin explored a prior run for governor, but left the race in 2018.
Bronin, 44, was originally sworn in as Hartford鈥檚 mayor on Jan. 1, 2016, and was reelected to a second term in November of 2019.
He鈥檒l be replaced by Hartford鈥檚 mayor-elect, Arunan Arulampalam, who announced several key members of his administration earlier this week.
