Hartford Mayor Luke Bronin, who recently decided not to seek reelection, is reiterating his support for Democratic Gov. Ned Lamont while saying he鈥檚 still open to considering a run for the state鈥檚 highest office.
鈥淚 think our governor is doing a great job. He鈥檚 one of the most popular governors in the country. He deserves as much time as he needs to figure out whether he wants to run again,鈥 Bronin said. 鈥淏ut if he doesn鈥檛 run again, then that鈥檚 obviously something I would strongly consider.鈥
Bronin explored a prior run for governor, but left the race in 2018.
Bronin, 44, was originally sworn in as Hartford鈥檚 mayor on Jan. 1, 2016, and was reelected to a second term in November of 2019.
He鈥檒l be replaced by Hartford鈥檚 mayor-elect, Arunan Arulampalam, who announced several key members of his administration earlier this week.
