Some much-needed rain has lowered the threat of drought across the state.
The U.S. Drought Monitor reported Thursday that virtually all of ǻ has exited the “severe” and “extreme” drought categories.
Western portions of the state are now experiencing , while central and eastern ǻ are experiencing dry to “moderate” drought conditions.
Meteorologist Garett Argianas said that’s an improvement.
"Which is good news, for sure. Of course we had the soaking rain -- a couple of soaking rain events last week along with that snow -- and, basically, what happened is that the drought intensity has improved," Argianas said. "So there’s still a drought, but it’s just not as severe as it was previously."
DzԲԱپܳ’s beginning in June 2016 and ending in May of the following year. The most intense period occurred in mid-November 2016, when “extreme” drought conditions affected nearly half of DzԲԱپܳ’s land.
